Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals with the show, the largest being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's career. The family relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as one who sometimes was a drinker and treated her mother with disrespect and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic primary school within her community and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
